Week 10

The light at the end of the tunnel

As I approach the end of my internship period, I think it is only natural that the pace slowed down quite a lot. For these past 2 weeks, I have not been creating as much content or doing as many tasks as I have in previous weeks, since it did not make sense to start work on any new long term projects.

So, what I have been up to? Well, I took advantage of the slowed down pace to work once again on Learning Goal #4, and take some more photos using the mirror technique.

Apparently I also enjoy deliberately putting myself into annoying situations since I once again attempted to work on Learning Goal #3 and create a Reel. I wanted it to be ‘good enough’ for my supervisor to want to post it on their Instagram. Alas, it was not to be. I created a Reel with very subdued, beige and grey tones since that is was I thought fit with the ‘grums’ aesthetic. Upon seeing the Reel, it was declared ‘not bright enough’ and that I should go and change the vibrance settings. I went about re-editing the whole video, but by the time it was done, time had passed, it had been forgotten, and thus I abandoned trying to push this one to make it to Instagram

One of the last tasks I did was something I did not expect I would be doing. A retailer in Spain was organising a skincare influencer event and a grums product was to be featured. The retailer requested a label for the product with a short description in Spanish. What a stroke of luck that I speak Spanish.

I do think it is important to end of a positive note, so the last thing I’ll share is what I consider to be a very meaningful achievement. One of the labels I designed for the new coffee oil was sent off for printing and arrived this week!

All in all, my time at grums has, by and large, not been at all what I expected. Whilst I have been able to learn a lot of new things and work on my myself in my new role as a multimedia designer, it will be nice to be away from this environment to think about it all properly. I look forward to reflecting on my experience in my Internship report in order to unpack and analyse ,everything so I can make some decisions about what direction I want to move in. Overall, I am excited about the future!
